Livin’ and Workin’ on Island Time

One of the cool things about living on a tiny island on the Georgia coast is that some of the video stuff people want is just really cool stuff. Case in point, I rolled out of bed this morning at 5:50 to trek the 1 1/2 miles to the north end of the island to catch a cool shot of the sunrise… there were low clouds on the horizon, so I got a shot of the sun behind the clouds, but it was still cool. About half an hour later, my buddy Alex and his mom Michelle rolled up and we got down to what we were there to do… shooting some cool shots of Alex on his skimboard. If you look up “grom” in the dictionary, Alex’s picture will probably be next to the definition (and if it’s not, it should be) He’s got the ultimate surfer look… long blonde hair, tan skin and a smile that would melt butter… oh, and he’s 9 years old. He’s also one of the nicest kids I know and I always enjoy hanging out with him. He’s got some sponsors interested in him for his skimboarding and I’m trying to help get him some exposure. So work today for me was standing in the ocean, camera in hand, watching an amazingly cool young dude do something he loves to do… yeah, it’s a cushy job, but somebody’s gotta do it.
